    The Mid Dakota Cancer Treatment & Research Center, St. Alexius Medical Center and the Bismarck Cancer Center have joined to provide the most comprehensive cancer treatment in the region.

    The Mid Dakota Cancer Treatment & Research Center is an 8,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility which provides innovative treatments, access to advanced research, nutrition counseling, patient and family-centered care, an education center, prevention strategies, cancer support groups and spiritual care to give cancer patients and their families hope and help.

    Board-certified oncologists and hematologists and the only board-certified nutrition doctor in the region make up the team at the Mid Dakota Cancer Treatment & Research Center. They work closely with the inpatient cancer unit at St. Alexius Medical Center and the radiation oncologists at the Bismarck Cancer Center. The team also includes chemotherapy nurses, radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, spiritual providers, support staff, support groups, the primary doctor, and, of course, patients and their loved ones. In addition, St. Alexius Home Care and Hospice provides compassionate care for terminally ill patients.

    The Mid Dakota Cancer Treatment & Research Center participates in numerous national studies and is affiliated with the National Cancer Institute and the North Central Cancer Treatment Group at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Participating in clinical trials allows access to the most advanced treatment and ensures that every possible treatment is available as quickly as possible for our patients.

    When your child is sick, staying close to home is an important option. The St. Alexius Medical Center Children's Center, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provide comprehensive care of infants, children and their families. St. Alexius Medical Center, Mid Dakota Clinic and its PrimeCare partners are committed to providing excellent care for children, thus saving them from traveling out of the region and out of state.

    Diabetes & Nutrition

    The Diabetes Program at Mid Dakota Clinic provides nutritional counseling for patients with diabetes. Our team includes a doctor board-certified in endocrinology, internal medicine and clinical nutrition, licensed registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators who work with each patient to develop a balanced nutrition plan. The team also includes nurses, a physician assistant and eye and foot care specialists.

    In addition to diabetes care, Mid Dakota Clinic offers the largest number of comprehensive weight loss and nutrition programs in the region. These include one-on-one assistance for people with cancer, obesity, eating disorders and for pregnant women. Along with the only doctor in the region board-certified in nutrition, licensed registered dietitians and personal trainers provide the most comprehensive weight loss services in the area. Our team works with men, women and children of all ages to create personalized plans for weight loss and nutrition.

    Emergency & Trauma

    St. Alexius Medical Center is a good place to be when bad things happen. Our Emergency and Trauma Center is nationally verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. In a national study, preventable death rates dropped from 73 percent at conventional emergency rooms to 4 percent at verified trauma centers.

    All of our Emergency Medicine doctors are trained in emergency medicine, meaning they have attained a high level of emergency medical expertise. Members of our Emergency & Trauma Center nursing staff have completed training in emergency care and are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. In addition, most are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and have completed Trauma Nurse training.

    Our Emergency & Trauma Center consistently ranks in the 90th percentile in patient satisfaction as ranked by Press Ganey, a national patient satisfaction survey company, and has been commended by the Centers for Disease Control for its disaster preparedness.

    Neuroscience

    The St. Alexius Neuroscience Center of Excellence applies an innovative team approach to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the central nervous system. Physical, emotional and spiritual needs are all considered, as the doctors and other healthcare professionals work together to provide you a level of care you won’t find elsewhere.

    The Neuroscience Center of Excellence uses the expertise of neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, psychologists, physiatrists, specially trained nurses, and physical, occupational and speech therapists to treat conditions like stroke, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, head and neck injury, chronic pain, sleep disorders, depression, balance/vertigo problems and more.

    The Neuroscience Center integrates the skills and abilities of the hospital’s specialty clinics, the Stroke Center, the Rehabilitation Center, the Sleep Center, the Comprehensive Pain Clinic and behavioral health services, including Archway Mental Health Services, to provide a level of care and expertise that leads the region.

    Orthopaedic

    Every day, The Bone & Joint Center helps people recover from injury and disease by rebuilding knees, rehabilitating shoulders, repairing fingers and more. A regional leader in general and specialized orthopaedic surgery, The Bone & Joint Center’s services include advanced adult and pediatric spinal surgery, advanced surgery of the hand and upper extremities, endoscopic carpal tunnel release and total joint replacements, as well as a full array of sports medicine and rehabilitation services. They are complemented by the highly trained rehabilitation nurses in the St. Alexius Rehabilitation and Transitional Care units.
